A Southwark Bathroom
This quintessentially English bathroom in a London townhouse combines our Hanley
Hand Cut tiles in various formats with Verde Guatemala marble and luxurious Drummonds fittings in Antique Brushed Brass. It’s a handsome en-suite that pays homage to the home’s Georgian roots and was dreamt up by Richard Green, a customer with a real eye for detail.
Look closely and this room features six tile formats across shape and colour, creating a shift in scale that draws the eye up. Field tiles glazed in Limewash transition from Squares in a horizontal stack to Half Squares in a brickbond pattern, before morphing into a vertical row. Green even opted for Pencil Quadrants in Limewash to discreetly trim the edge of the window opening. Rather than extending the installation to the ceiling, he stopped short to emphasise the room’s height, capping the tilework with a Square Dado in Conifier for an architectural finish.
Also in Conifer, Half Rounds at chair rail height separate the brickbond pattern from the Squares, and Half Squares capped with Half Rounds create a skirting-like installation that anchors the room. It’s an intricate combination that sets off Drummonds’ fittings, including the Grand standing shower, single Lock vanity and wall-mounted towel rail. Wood tones in the mirror, cabinetry, and loo seat round out the look, lending the room a sense of warmth and earthiness.
