Drawing inspiration from the hand-painted screens of Japanese artist Tawaraya Sōtatsu, she commissioned artist Anna Glover to create a blooming wildflower garden that would envelope the room. As luck would have it, Glover counts Sōtatsu among her hero’s and could not have been more delighted. With a nod to the home’s English locale, she illustrated a scene of hollyhocks, poppies, chrysanthemums, and trailing vines, coupled with birds and dragonflies, which Balineum was then entrusted to translate onto hand-painted tiles.
