Washington, D.C. Kitchenette
Drawn to the rich colours and timeless appeal of our Hanley Tube Lined Tiles, interior designer Zoe Feldman installed a geometric pattern in her own design studio. The office, tucked in a historic townhouse in the Georgetown neighbourhood of Washington, D.C., serves as the firm’s headquarters and boasts a lounge area with kitchenette where the team can gather.
“I think they are pretty magic. They’re so hyper pigmented,” says Zoe of the tube lined tiles. Serving as a backsplash for the kitchenette — and a focal point for the room — she installed a combination of L07 Squares and D1A Half Squares in Pomegranate (C8), Blush (C27) and Midnight (C11). “We were excited about the geometry of the pattern and giving a little something modern and cool to the space that’s otherwise more traditional," she says.
The colour combo harmonizes with an inky blue sofa and complements walls painted Farrow & Ball Trout and cabinetry painted Cola (an archived brown with red undertones). The stone countertop and shelf also speak to those pinky hues in a Rosa Aurora marble. “It’s like tea stain, so it has all the same qualities that you see in the paint and the tile, so everything feels tonal,” she notes.
“We love how the tiles feel heritage enough to work in historic homes but modernised, and that’s how we design in general. We love the tension between the old and new.”
