European Glass Tiles
We searched far and wide to find the perfect partner for our Glass Tiles range. A striking departure from our ceramic tiles, our glass tiles are characterised by the clean, crisp lines of a machine cut edge and the luminous way colour filters through the material. It was imperative to us that these tiles were made with care and precision, and our European partners have excelled in their production.
Despite their sleek, modern appearance, our glass tiles are crafted in a historic European glass-making district that dates to the 13th century. This area’s local know-how has been handed down over generations, and we are proud to work with a family-owned business there, helmed by the same proprietor for several decades.
This specialist team balances artisan techniques with contemporary fabrication, hand painting large sheets of glass with an aerosol application that dries to a uniform finish. The newly coloured sheets are then scored by machine to ensure cuts are precise and even, before being separated by hand. Raw edges are bevelled, or in the case of the smaller Mosaic and Liner formats, softened in a kiln.
We offer glass tiles in a palette of 25 colours as standard and can custom match any RAL colour with minimums as low as two square metres, thanks to the hands-on-nature of our partner’s production methods. All colours are available in gloss or matt finish. Gloss is highly reflective and allows light to pass through the edges, while matt creates a softer look as light is diffused through the colour. Installing the same colour in different finishes creates subtle variations in a monochromatic scheme.
We also offer 10 tile formats as standard, including 5cm Mosaics, which are arranged into a 30cm sheet by hand. The team is able to create custom shapes on request. There are no minimums and their skills at translating vision into reality mean you can create infinite combinations between formats, colours and placement.
