Pop-Art Inspired Shower Room

They say life imitates art and that was certainly the case for this striking London bathroom designed by Lou Gomm of Gomm Studio. Taking inspiration from Michael Craig-Martin’s 'Coffee Cup’ screenprint — which the client had framed and hung in the adjacent hallway — Lou translated the vibrant colors into a bold yet livable palette.

Using Balineum’s Glass tiles, she set a modern tone with a mosaic of Sky Blue squares accented with triangles in Orange and Rose, all in a gloss finish. “Our client spends a lot of time in Florida near the water. I loved the reflective nature of the glass tiles,” says Lou. Bonus: their shiny finish helps bounce light around the ground floor space.

Picking up the orange hue in both the tiles and the artwork, Lou selected Mylands’ Lolly Pop for the vanity colour and the medicine cabinet frame. The walls, however, are a shift in tone. Painted Sanderson French Rose, they are a softer take on the artwork’s original hot pink.

“It is a small space and the tiles really give you the wow factor when you walk in. It certainly gets a reaction, so the pink wall colour tones it down”

Despite their sleek, modern appearance, our glass tiles are crafted in a historic European glass making district that dates to the 13th century.
